Why people choose Nai Thon
Nai Thon is small enough to walk end to end in ten minutes: a curve of sand, a single beach road with a row of restaurants, and green hills at both ends. There is no nightlife, no shopping centre and no plan to build either, and the buyers who choose it do so precisely because of that.
The hills behind hold some of the island’s most dramatic villa plots, with wide sea views over the bay and down the coast. Below them, the village itself stays modest, which is an unusual and rather pleasant combination.
Where it sits
Nai Thon sits on the north-west coast between Layan and Nai Yang, with headlands enclosing it at both ends. The airport is around fifteen minutes north, Boat Avenue fifteen minutes south.
Because the headlands cut it off from its neighbours, it has no through traffic — you only come here if you are coming here.

Nai Thon in detail
A short history
A fishing village until relatively recently, Nai Thon was protected from mass development by its size, its hills and the national park land nearby. Roads over the headlands came late.
Luxury villa development has since taken the slopes at each end while leaving the village largely alone — an unusually well-managed outcome by Phuket standards.
The beach and the coastline
A sheltered crescent with clear water and coral at the northern end, calmer than the open beaches further south. Swimming is good from November to April; monsoon surf and currents make it hazardous from May to October.
Eating and drinking
A row of beach restaurants along the sand and a handful of places on the village road — mostly Thai seafood, unpretentious and good. For range, you drive.
Shopping and everyday errands
A convenience store or two and that is about it. The nearest supermarkets are towards Thalang or Cherngtalay, fifteen minutes away.
Schools, healthcare and getting around
UWC Thailand is around eighteen minutes inland. Clinics are limited locally; hospitals are in Phuket Town, about forty-five minutes. A car is essential unless you never leave the village.

Is there enough here to live on?
For daily life you will drive — fifteen minutes to real shops. What is here is a beach, a dozen restaurants and quiet. Whether that is enough depends entirely on the buyer.
Is the swimming good?
Very, in the dry season, with coral at the northern end. Between May and October the surf and currents make it unsafe on many days.
Can a foreign buyer own here?
Mostly hillside villas held on registered long leases with ownership of the building, plus a small amount of condominium stock where foreign freehold may be available. It depends on the property and we confirm it early.
Are the hillside plots buildable?
Sometimes, and sometimes not. Phuket restricts building on elevated and sloping land, and the limits tighten with height and gradient. Any hillside purchase here needs its permissions verified before you commit.
Does it get busy?
Modestly, in high season. It never approaches Bang Tao or Patong, and in the green season it is close to empty.
Do I need a car?
Yes, unless you plan never to leave the bay.
