Golf Homes in Phuket
Phuket has a golf scene out of proportion to its size, and a steady group of buyers who choose a house by its proximity to a first tee. Most of the island’s courses sit in a band across the middle and north, which is also where most of the resort-grade housing is.
Where the courses are
Laguna’s course sits inside the estate on the north-west coast, surrounded by villas and condominiums, and is the one most owners live on. Inland from Phuket Town are Loch Palm and Red Mountain, cut into the old tin-mining landscape. Blue Canyon, north towards the airport, is the championship venue and the name most visiting golfers know. Between them they put a round within about half an hour of most northern addresses.
Golf front, golf view, and near a course
These are three different propositions and they are priced differently. Golf front means the plot adjoins the fairway, with the outlook and the occasional stray ball that comes with it. Golf view means you see the course, often across water or from elevation. Near a course means a short drive. Ask which one applies before travelling, in the same way you would with a sea view.
What living on a course is actually like
Fairway frontage is quiet, green and permanently protected from development, which is the real attraction — nobody is going to build in front of you. In exchange you get early-morning maintenance machinery, irrigation, and in some estates a membership or access fee that is separate from the common area charge. Ask what the golf access arrangement is for residents, because it varies a lot between projects.
