Thep Krasattri is the old centre of Thalang and, for most of Phuket’s history, the centre of the island itself. The Heroines’ Monument stands at its southern end, the national museum and the old temples sit nearby, and the town has a continuity that the resort coast simply does not.
For buyers it offers land and houses at prices set by local demand, on a corridor with excellent road access north to the airport and south to Phuket Town. It is a practical, unromantic choice that consistently delivers more space per baht than anywhere within sight of the sea.
Where it sits
The area runs along the main north-south road through Thalang district, from the Heroines’ Monument north towards the airport. Cherngtalay and the west coast are fifteen to twenty minutes west; Phuket Town is twenty-five minutes south.
Its position on the island’s main artery makes it one of the quickest addresses to get anywhere from.

Thep Krasattri in detail
A short history
Thalang was Phuket’s capital, and this is where its best-known story took place: the defence of the island against a Burmese siege in 1785, led by two local women later honoured as the Heroines. The monument at the junction commemorates them and remains the island’s central landmark.
Wat Phra Thong, with its half-buried golden Buddha, and the Thalang National Museum sit nearby, making this the most historically dense part of Phuket.
The neighbourhood
A working Thai town with markets, shops, schools and temples, surrounded by residential land and smallholdings. Traffic on the main road is significant; the lanes behind are quiet.
Eating and drinking
Excellent and very cheap local food — markets, noodle shops and southern Thai kitchens. Almost nothing aimed at visitors, which for some buyers is the entire appeal.
Shopping and everyday errands
Local markets and supermarkets cover daily needs, with the larger stores around Si Sunthon a few minutes south. Everything practical is close.
Schools, healthcare and getting around
UWC Thailand is around ten minutes. Local clinics handle everyday care; hospitals are twenty-five minutes in Phuket Town. A car is essential.

About twenty minutes west to Bang Tao and Nai Yang.

Almost entirely land and houses, so a registered long lease with ownership of the building or another lawful structure. Condominium stock is minimal.
Is the main road noisy?
Yes, close to it. Properties in the lanes behind are quiet. Position relative to the highway is the main thing to get right.
Is it good value?
Among the best on the island for land and house size, precisely because it has no sea view to pay for.
